Meet the finalists: Jared Hinde
Please sum up your music video concept in a single line with a single picture.
David and Goliath: A Fashion Show.
Can you tell us where the inspiration for your idea came from?
After hearing the song I had a few ideas, but nothing that really grabbed me. I got talking to the band and we threw around some ridiculous ideas until we came up with our current concept – A Derek Zoolander-inspired fashion show walk-off. At first it seemed a bit out of place for a pretty serious indie rock band, but I cut together an animatic using different references and the concept fits really well. We’re super excited about it.
What drew you towards MT Seas as a collaborator?
I’ve known the guys in the band for quite some time now – I even played in a band with some of them, but that’s a story for another day. They recently went into studio and recorded a few songs and I was super impressed with what they came out with. I think they have progressed so much as musicians, and I feel like they could make a success in the local music scene. I enjoy them as people, they make great music and they desperately need a music video… so they were a pretty obvious choice.
Jameson’s family motto is ‘Sine Metu’ and it means ‘Without Fear’. How would you define “fearless authenticity” as an artist?
I think that if you can achieve what you set out to do that would be fearless authenticity for me. It’s so easy to make compromises today, but to commit to something and finish it they way you want to takes courage.
